How is the grade level calculated?
The Flesch–Kincaid grade level combines average words per sentence and average syllables per word into a U.S. school grade. A score of 8 means an average 8th-grader could read it.
How accurate is the syllable count?
Syllables are estimated with a standard phonetic heuristic. It is highly accurate for everyday English but can be off by one on unusual or made-up words, which only slightly shifts the scores.
