Frequently asked questions
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
It is a time-management method: work in focused intervals (traditionally 25 minutes), take a short break, and after four intervals take a longer break. The structure fights fatigue and procrastination by making work feel like short, manageable sprints.
Can I change the default 25/5 timing?
Yes. Set any work length, short-break length and long-break length in minutes — some people prefer 50/10 or 45/15 for deep-work sessions.
Does it play a sound when a session ends?
Yes, a short beep plays automatically when work or break time is up, generated locally so no audio file needs to load.
Do I need to keep the tab open?
Yes — the timer runs in this browser tab using JavaScript, so it pauses if the tab is closed, though the page title updates live so you can glance at the countdown from another tab.
